48/15. NOTICE TO AN ADJOINING OWNER OF AN APPLICATION FOR
REGISTRATION OF A PERSON IN ADVERSE POSSESSION – B149:
RE REGISTERED COMMON LAND NO CL 13, LAND OFF PARK
LANE, IPSTONES: A letter had been received from the Land Registry
regarding the above, mentioned application. The Clerk reported that she had
spoken to Land Charges at the County Council and it seems that they should
also have been consulted on this issue (Due to Registered Common Land
Status) – they have now contacted the Land Registry who will now send them
the details so that they can look into the matter and respond accordingly. It
seems that regardless of Ownership the Land will retain the Registered
Common Land Status.
Following a discussion in which it was noted that many years ago, before the
Memorial Hall was built in the 1920’s villagers used the Common Land off
Park Lane for leisure events such as Picnics, Village Fetes etc.
No-one present could ever remember the land being used for this purpose.
The Applicant had used the land without paying any rent since 1979.
It was proposed by Cllr Snow and seconded by Cllr Morris to respond that
the parish council have no objections to the application, providing that the
land retains its Registered Common Land Status and to request that the
Land Registry keep the parish council informed of the outcome of the
application. This was agreed unanimously.
The meeting was declared closed at 8.00p.m.
